Frequently asked questions

What is perinatal mental health?
Perinatal mental health refers to emotional wellbeing during pregnancy and the first year after birth. This period can bring significant physical, emotional and identity changes, and it's common to experience challenges such as anxiety, depression, overwhelm, or difficulty adjusting to parenting. Support focuses on helping you feel more grounded, confident and supported in your role, while also caring for your own wellbeing.
What is mental health occupational therapy?
Mental health occupational therapy supports people to participate in daily life in ways that feel meaningful and manageable. This includes working on routines, emotional regulation, sensory needs, relationships, parenting roles and coping with stress or mental health challenges. The focus is practical and holistic — helping you build skills and systems that support your wellbeing in everyday life.
How do I make an appointment?
You can contact me directly by email or through the contact form. If you're unsure whether the service is the right fit, you're welcome to start with a brief, complimentary 'do we fit?' session before booking a full appointment.
What is the complimentary 'do we fit?' session for?
It's a short introductory call designed to help you decide whether Kokoro Wellbeing is the right fit for your needs. It's a chance to ask questions, learn more about how I work, discuss your needs, and explore whether the approach aligns with what you're looking for. It is not a therapy appointment.
What are your fees?
The standard session fee is $250 for a 1-hour session, with a $450 fee for 2-hour TRTP™ sessions. Medicare rebates may apply with a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Full details are on the Fees page. Payment is required at the time of the appointment unless otherwise arranged.
How long are the sessions?
Standard sessions are typically 50–60 minutes. Longer sessions may be available depending on your needs and the type of support required (for example, 2-hour TRTP™ sessions).
Where are you located?
Kokoro Wellbeing is based in Melbourne, Victoria. All services are provided by telehealth — secure video and phone — so you can access support wherever you are in Australia.
I have a Mental Health Treatment Plan from my GP. Can I be referred to you?
Yes. As an endorsed mental health occupational therapy service, you can receive Medicare rebates under a Mental Health Treatment Plan. You can also access services privately. Rebates through private health insurance or other funding schemes are not currently available.
What is the cancellation policy?
At least 24 hours' notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed appointments will incur a $100 cancellation fee.
