Fees & payment

Fees are kept as low as possible so Kokoro Wellbeing services are accessible and I can continue to provide services. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Mental Health Treatment Plan

Medicare rebates are available for psychological treatment by endorsed mental health occupational therapists under the Australian Government's Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. If you're eligible, your GP or psychiatrist will complete a mental health assessment and prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan, allowing rebates for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year (1 January – 31 December) - usually 6 sessions, then a review and re-referral for the additional 4.

Without your referral or re-referral letter you won't be able to receive a Medicare rebate, so please keep on top of this.

After 10 sessions in the calendar year (including sessions with other practitioners) you will not be eligible for further Medicare rebates until the new calendar year.

Session fee:$230 for a 1-hour session(Medicare rebate $89.50 + gap fee $140.50)

Gap Fees

I hold a small number of reduced-fee places each month for parents for whom the standard fee is a barrier to care. The reduced fee is $150 for a 1-hour session (with a Mental Health Treatment Plan, this is a Medicare rebate of $89.50 and a gap of $60.50).

These places are offered to parents and carers who:

are single parents or newly separated
are on a low or reduced household income (for example, on unpaid parental leave, a Centrelink payment, or a Health Care Card), or
are experiencing a significant recent change in financial circumstances

You don't need to provide documents. Just let me know when you get in touch or at your complimentary 'do we fit?' session, and we'll have a brief, confidential conversation about what would work for you.

Because places are limited, they're offered in the order enquiries are received. If none are available when you enquire, I'll let you know, keep you on a waiting list, and where I can, suggest other services that may be a good fit in the meantime, such as bulk-billed perinatal services.

I review reduced-fee arrangements regularly, and reduced fees may be revisited as your circumstances change.

Private consultations

The same fees apply if you don't have a Mental Health Treatment Plan, have used your 10 Medicare sessions, or prefer to pay privately.

Session fee:$230 for a 1-hour session

The Richards Trauma Process™

The Richards Trauma Process™ (TRTP™) is a structured process completed over approximately 6-8 sessions (mixture of 1 and 2 hour sessions). The process and number of sessions will be tailored for you. Fees are charged per session. Clients with a Mental Health Treatment Plan can receive the Medicare rebate for up to 10 session fees in calendar year.

1 hour:$250(Medicare rebate $89.50 + gap fee $160.50)2 hours:$450(Medicare rebate $89.50 + gap fee $360.50)

Clinical supervision

Clinical supervision sessions for occupational therapists are invoiced on the day of each appointment, with a 7-day payment period. Payment can be made by credit/debit card or bank transfer using the details on the invoice, or processed against the card held securely on file.

Session fee:$250 for a 1-hour session

Cancellation/non-attendance

Needing to cancel or reschedule your appointment will happen - please give me at least 24 hours' notice if you can with your reason for needing to cancel. You can do this through the contact page or by email to belinda@kokorowellbeing.au.

If you can't make a scheduled appointment, I'll try to find another time as soon as feasible - please be aware that with a full caseload this may not always be possible.

If you forget your appointment or don't turn up and you haven't let me know, I'll attempt to reach you by phone and email in the first 15 minutes from the start of the appointment. A $100 cancellation fee will be charged to the credit/debit card held securely on file if you don't attend.

It's generally not possible to extend your appointment, depending on the timing of other clients. If you're a few minutes behind, simply join the telehealth session when you can — I'll be there.

If you need to cancel or reschedule instead, please give at least 24 hours' notice — see the cancellation policy above.

Payments

All accounts are settled on the day of your appointment.
The total fee including the Medicare rebate and gap fee are processed via the credit/debit card held securely on file.
Card surcharges may apply to help offset processing costs.
Medicare rebates are paid to the bank account details held on file.
You may also elect to receive an invoice and pay by bank transfer, processing the Medicare rebate yourself.
